I work a lot. Not to complain, I love my job but every once and a while I have to put everything on hold and disconnect. Yesterdays reset button was an adventure over to Mackay, ID with my Dad and our 1979 Dodge van. We brought our fishing gear, PB&J materials, and a full tank. Aka $250.00 in regular gasoline. Kinda ironic since the van cost us $300.00. We set off with no real intention other than to explore the Big Lost river. We found a sweet shady camp spot and ok hole to fish in. I had some bites and caught a few little guys, not even worthy of documenting. But then, around 9:00 when the visibility was getting tough, my line caught and my reel went spinning down stream. This felt big. I started to reel the fish in as gently as I could. I see this big white belly flop around as I reeled in. It was easily 12-15 inches. I yell to my Dad, “get the camera ready!” Of course it was back at camp so I worked my hardest to keep the fish hooked. After a few minutes my Dad comes running in to the river with the camera and the fish spitts out the fly. I like a good challenge and holy smokes, fly fishing is damn hard!

I left my big boy camera at the office, and shot on my Dad’s janky canon. Here are the photos.
