Web Design

22 Feb 2011 / 0 Comments / in design, work

Over the years I have dabbled in web design and because WordPress makes so much sense, I have been able to create a site in a few days for whatever I want. A music blog? My own website? A friends website? And more recently Hillary Maybery’s website. Hilary’s old site was entirely flash. I have always been opposed to flash. First off, flash player does not work on apple’s moble divices which are the best. Second off, they take forever to load and people add un necessary extras like music and spiffy actions. I guess you could call me a minimalist who gets straight to the point with no fluf. (Im not a fan of politicians) ahh. If the site is for a photographer, here is your site showcasing photos only, no distractions of music or fancy ways to view the images…. Another great feature of wordpress is that all legitimate bloggers use it. Now users are able to create web pages from the back end. No need to learn a new platofrm or separate your blog from your site. However if you are new to wordpress, don’t fret, its quite intuitive. Have you noticed my site? Its homepage is a blog and the rest are pages. The entire site is run through wordpress. And heres the kicker…It works on all platforms!

Bye bye FLASH!

Chelsea + Maz: Engagement Video

Here is something you have never seen before! For a few hours Hillary and I were enjoying one of our most fun shoots and then, in a split second, the excitement came to a bone shattering halt. But, the true heros in life get back on the horse and that’s what Chelsea did when she invited us to her parents house to wrap up the best shoot ever! Thanks and enjoy, Max & Hillary

Bella’s mother Ingrid, a friend of mine, asked me to take some portfolio shots of her daughter. I am always happy to shoot so we headed out to Sun Valley.

My other Job

15 Jan 2011 / 1 Comment / in photography, work

This year is my first year as a Ski Instructor for Sun Valley Co. I never thought I enjoyed kids until I started teaching them how to improve their skiing abilities. We have so much fun ripping around baldy and exploring the giant play ground. It is a super rewarding job because I watch their skills improve over the day. I wont go in to too much detail right now but I really do enjoy breaking off a pice of what I know for others. Anyways this is where i work. I took this photo on Christmas day. Yes I worked for three weeks straight even holidays and freakin loved it.

Oh and after 20 years of living in Hailey I finally moved to Ketchum. Here is the view from my bedroom.

More recently I have been assisting Sun Valley with their Race Clinics. I hop on the lift a few hours before the mt is open carry the gates up help set them, and maintain the course.

My long time friend, mentor, and Supervisor of Ski School, Nick is hiring me to cover the clinics media. That includes managing their facebook page, photos, and videos. I am super stoked on this opportunity because I love to ski, take photos, video, and socialize.

Stay tuned!

Mary + Jake: Engagement Video

I created a video of engagement shoot that Hillary photographed over Christmas. I am so stoked that 2011 clients are taking advantage of the films I have been making! With each project, our goal is simple: to tell a story in the most truthful and beautiful way, constantly learning new skills in film-making, capture different looks, and have a lot of fun with it! There are just too many opportunities that simply shouldn’t be missed and now offering photo and video for engagement sessions is another wonderful way to share your story with friends and families! Mary and Jake, you are stunning and we had a great time getting to know you both!

I was commissioned to cover two shows of the Sun Valley Ballet’s Nutcracker. On top of that Hillary and I shot during the rehearsal with our Canons. I edited a video and included it in the DVD and published it on the web.

I started blogging in May of 2009. Around June 2010 my blog was accidentally deleted. After a busy summer I am back. My goal is to post my new gear, jobs / assignments i am working on or have completed, inspiration, and anything i find worth sharing. I hope you enjoy and be sure to stop by frequently.
Allright here we go!
Yesterday I wrapped up a video for Hillary Maybery.

I have been creating all of Hillary’s videos this summer. Check out the rest after THE JUMP

Today my new Dakine Reload Backpack arrived. My old bag was overloaded with this small amount of gear. Now, with this new one, I have wayyy to much space. I guess its time to start buying glass!
